Jack's laughing!

Babies have the cutest little smiles and Jack is simply adorable. Tommy can usually get him to smile and laugh the best. Here's a little video...

So far, our two little boys couldn't be more different. Jack is still not a very good sleeper. He is the most restless baby I have ever seen. All night and during naps...rustle, wriggle, grunt, fight the swaddler, kick the feet...all without really being awake. He is in his own room now to help him have a little more quiet environment to sleep and to help us sleep too!

He is starting to be more awake, coo and giggle. Ace is starting to pay more attention to him now that he is doing more than sleeping all the time. They are really cut together. I can't wait to see them play as Jack gets bigger!

pumpkin patch

Ace took a field trip to the pumpkin patch with his school. We got to learn how apple cider was made and sample the cider and the donuts! We picked out pumpkins...

Went on a hay ride pulled by a big tractor!
Fed the baby cows
and the goats
We had a great time. Fall is so much fun!

Taking advantage

Andrew seems to be fully aware that our attention is divided these days and he has been taking full advantage of it. We have had several of those "I just turned around for a minute" episodes.
1. while changing Jack's diaper "look mommy I colored a chair!". A picture of a chair? No. A marker coloring on his fabric covered chair.
2. While changing Jack "Look mommy, the alphabet!". The 12 pack of papertowels is now open and each roll has multiple letters colored in marker.
3. While changing Jack (see a theme?) "Weee". Before mentioned papertowels-one roll unrolled across the laundry room, living room and kitchen.
4. Pictured above- The Chapstick incident. We arrive at the library for Ace's school field trip and here he sits in the backseat with just as much on both hands as on his face here. He was not chapped for some time.

Ace vs Jack

Here is a picture of Andrew at 10 weeks and then Jack at 8 weeks. They really look remarkably alike. But in reality they are complete opposites. Ace never ate well from the minute he was born and has always been a great sleeper. Jack is the lightest sleeper (not a good thing with a 3 year old brother!) but a little piglet. He would probably eat all day if we let him. He must be double his birth weight already and I have no doubt he will outgrow Ace one day.

Jack update

I have been quite delinquent in putting up new pictures of Jack. The second child always seems to have less pictures- now I know why. There never seems to be a good time to take pictures. Jack is sleeping or eating or we're changing someone or putting someone to bed. Oy! Well here is an update with the pictures we do have.

2 weeks old...
First bath at home. Jack has this little worried look on his face most of the time. So much worry for such a little guy.

About 4 weeks old...

About 6 weeks old...

Almost 2 months!! Jack's eyes are lightening up to a beautiful blue. Still darker than Ace's so far. He is finally having some awake periods where he isn't a grump. He is super cute when Dad gets him to smile. We finally captured a half smile here.
